Fire scene quiet

No new fires were reported in the Northwest Region this past week, marking two weeks without new fire activity.
Red Lake District, meanwhile, declared two fires out this week, reducing the number of active fires in the region to two.
The remaining active blazes in the region are small fires located within Quetico Provincial Park in Fort Frances District.
Both have shown little or no signs of activity in recent weeks and are expected to be called “out” soon.
Such fires are part of a plan in the park that utilizes fire as a natural part of the park ecosystem.
The fire hazard remains “low” with cool, wet weather across the region, but the public is reminded that forest fire season does not officially end until Oct. 31.
