The Muskie senior boys’ volleyball team spent the weekend in Kenora in their first action of the season, placing sixth in the annual 12-team Kenora Invitational Volleyball Tournament, hosted by Beaver Brae and St. Thomas Aquinas.
The Muskies won their first match, beating Churchill 25-11 and 26-24, but followed that with a close loss to Dryden’s “blue” team by scores of 25-22 and 25-23.
The black-and-gold earned another win, beating Whitefish Bay 25-20 and 25-16, but then were handed their worst loss of the tournament to Dryden’s “gold” team by scores of 25-9 and 25-19.
Fort High then lost 25-18 and 27-26 to Westgate, which relegated them to face St. Thomas Aquinas for fifth place.
The visitors fell 25-12 and 25-19 to settle for sixth place.
