Sorority marking 60 years

Sorority marking 60 years

Beta Sigma Phi sorority will begin its new season with a celebration of 60 years in Fort Frances.
Alice Solomon and Edna Avis brought their enthusiasm for this organization here in 1947 and for the past 60 years, Beta Sigma Phi has been a very large part of this community.
Projects including “Daffodil Day,” the Townshend Theatre, baby contests, the millennium fashion show, the wheelchair-accessible glider, museum chili cook-off, and Fort Frances High School bursary have kept members of Beta Sigma Phi very active over the past 60 years.
Members of this organization span the years in age, and combine the interests and talents of many to contribute much to the betterment of our town and the personal growth of individual members.
We are women of all ages with many diverse talents. We are the only international chapter, with both Canadian and American members.
We are dedicated to helping women fulfill their lives by providing opportunities for educational programs and opportunities for service to others.
On Sept. 26, a special evening will take place at Zion Lutheran Church here when longtime members and new prospective members will come together to share the fun.
If you are interested in becoming a part of this great sisterhood, contact someone you know in Beta Sigma Phi. There are quite a lot of us around town.
