Nine years ago, a group of singers from Emo and surrounding communities decided to help Emo celebrate its 100th birthday by forming the Emo Centennial Choir.
Ever since, interested individuals from across the district have gathered in the fall and again in the spring to learn new songs and to share their love of music.
This fall will be no exception.
Rehearsals for this year’s Christmas performance will begin next Monday (Sept. 10) at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo. Practice begins promptly at 7 p.m. with registration taking place at 6:45.
The registration fee of $25 covers the cost of the music, which each member is allowed to keep.
This year’s concert will feature nine songs by the choir, as well as a couple of pieces by smaller groups.
The performance tentatively is scheduled for late November or early December in order to avoid the usual Christmas rush.
Membership in this choir requires a love of music and a desire to share that love with others. No prior choir experience is necessary.
If you are over the age of 12 and enjoy singing, please accept this as your personal invitation to attend the first practice on Sept. 10.
If you have any questions or require further information, feel free to contact the choir’s accompanist, Lisa Vos (482-3567), or the choir leader, Renee Martin-Brown (482-3055).
