Set to face
Thistles
in Kenora
After practising for the last two months, the Fort Frances Thunderhawks are looking forward to their first game action when they visit the Kenora Thistles on Friday night.
The Thistles opened the season with a 3-0 win over Manitoba’s Southeast Prairie Thunder back on Nov. 21.
T’hawks assistant GM Travis Green said the team is pumped to hit the ice.
“Once we get into game experience, it’ll really show us where we’re at,” he reasoned.
“It’s been tough to just practise the whole time.”
Green also expects that playing the Thistles, who have a little extra incentive this season as Allan Cup hosts, will provide a fine season-opening challenge.
“The guys will have a really good feel for where everything’s sitting once they get into the real game experience and see where we really sit when we square up against a team like Kenora,” Green noted.
“It should give us a pretty good gauge of where we’re sitting.”
The Thunderhawks will open their home schedule Dec. 18 when the Manitoba Lightning visit the Ice For Kids Arena for a 6:45 p.m. start.
