Hockey fans hoping to get some golf in this weekend should head to Kitchen Creek for a best ball-format tournament hosted by the Fort Frances Jr. Sabres starting at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
The tournament, in which golfers aim for the best drive from the white tees on each of the 18 holes on the course, also will serve as a meet-and-greet for local fans wanting to find out more about the SIJHL’s newest team.
On hand will be head coach Wayne Strachan and more than a dozen players from the Sabres’ roster, including Fort Frances natives Ryan Faragher, Kyle Turgeon, Mitch Cain, and Shaun Egan.
The tournament costs $200 for a team of four. Teams short on golfers will be paired with one of the Sabres to fill out their quartet.
A variety of prizes will be up for grabs, including a new car for a hole-in-one at the 13th hole.
A meal will be provided after the tournament.
