Dear editor:
    This is a letter from a very concerned and scared citizen.
    This is a reminder to those idiots who drive vehicles. Just because you don’t look for people on bikes doesn’t mean we are not there.
    On Monday, I was going down Portage Avenue by Suds & Tubs. I was behind a truck and somebody was pulling out of the back alley.
    So the truck backed up and did not even look for me. It backed up at least 20 feet, so I had to back up, too. If there would have been a vehicle behind, I would have got caught between the two vehicles and may have lost my life—even though I was doing everything legally.
    Another instance, I was going down Scott by the Bonnie Blue when a man opened his car door. If I would not have been so alert, the door would have hit me and knocked me off my bike.
    Yet the man just smiled at me as though he had done nothing wrong.
    Another time I was going down the four-laner in the proper lane. A women behind me kept honking her horn thinking I should pull over for her.
    People on bicycles have just as much right of way as vehicles, although many drivers don’t realize this or don’t care.
    Remember, drivers, that your carelessness could kill somebody some day. So watch for bicycles at all times!
    We have a legal right to the roads and highways, too.
