‘Quest’ sporting jam-packed lineup

    With tickets going on sale this week, organizers have unveiled a record number of contestants for this year’s “Quest for the Best,” which will take place Tuesday, July 24 in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship.
    “We’ve got more people than we’ve ever got before, but we’re going to accommodate them all,” said organizer Dawn Booth, who also is the office manager for the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce.
    She added 22 soloists and one duet will be competing in “Quest” while another 14 younger singers will take a shot a winning prizes in “Kiddie Quest.”
    (“Quest” is open to anyone age 14 and up while “Kiddie Quest” is for contestants 13 years old or younger).
    This year’s “Quest” contestants, and the songs they’ll be performing, include:
    •Nelson Bragg—“Where The Blacktop Ends” (Keith Urban);
    •Ed Calder Jr.—“Fourth of July” (Shooter Jennings);
    •Dennis Gagnon—“On The Road Again” (Willie Nelson);
    •Shawn Galusha—“Forget About It” (original song);
    •Andrew George—“Last Rock Star” (original song);
    •Jason Godin—“Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” (AC/DC);
    •Britanny Hayes—“Fancy” (Reba McIntyre);
    •Ron Hines—“Back When” (Tim McGraw);
    •Erika Jourdain—“Wild Horses” (Natasha Beddingfield);
    •Ken Kellar—“Who Says You Can’t Go Home” (Bon Jovi);
    •Kayla Lauzon—“I Need A Hero” (Bonie Tyler);
    •Lisa McPherson—“Dear Mr. President” (Pink);
    •Kristi McQuay—“I’m The Only One” (Melissa Etheridge);
    •Leah Nowak—“Our Song” (Taylor Swift);

    Meanwhile, “Kiddie Quest” contestants include:

    There also will be at least one guest performer—likely a previous “Quest” contestant.
     “The Faculty,” comprised of Rob Donaldson, Chris Denby, Steve Denby, and Jim Newman, will return as the back-up band this year.
    She added “Quest” also has more sponsors than ever this year, noting a fourth-place prize and another yet-to-be-determined category have been added to the list of cash prizes “Quest” contestants will vie for.
    The main event sponsors for “Quest” are the FFCBC and B93•FM while Sears Canada is the primary sponsor for “Kiddie Quest.”
    Tickets cost $13 in advance at the Chamber office (474 Scott St.) and $15 at the door (If there are any left).
    More than 2,000 tickets have been printed for the perennially sold-out singing contest.
    “Quest” will start at 6 p.m., with doors open about 5 p.m.
