An initiative to develop a community calendar highlighting major district events so far has been met with little response, noted calendar co-ordinator Diane Maxey.
“I’m still encouraging people to get a hold of me. But I haven’t heard from anybody, actually,” she said late Monday.
“It can still happen. But if I don’t get the response, it won’t,” she stressed.
As first reported in last week’s Times, Maxey is hoping to compile information regarding major community events and put them into a calendar, which would be posted at various strategic locations in the district as well as have an accompanying online version thanks to the Fort Frances Times’ electronic publishing division.
Maxey is looking for more information to fill out the calendar to get as complete a schedule as possible that will make it possible both for organizers to co-ordinate and avoid conflicting events, and for the public to fill out their day planners well in advance—ideally boosting event participation in either case.
Maxey stressed she wants input both from Fort Frances groups as well as those in Emo, Rainy River, and all points in-between, and would like to see a co-ordinator from the major centres who could gather information from their respective municipalities.
Anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to give her a call at 274-7309. If she’s not home, leave her a message.
