Dear editor:
I was reading in last Thursday’s edition of the Daily Bulletin regarding the upcoming Ducks Unlimited dinner, which is held here each year. I have commented about this in the past years but I am making my opinions public this time.
The Ducks Unlimited group goes to all the business people each year for donations, and this event is well supported by the area merchants. However, when it comes time to purchase a ticket to this event, if you go single, you are discriminated against.
According to the Thursday article, if you attend this function as a couple, it is $70 (or $35 per person). If you are single, that is, not married yet or your spouse has passed on, it will cost you $45.
The people who prepare the meal, I do not believe, charge according to a person coming as single or as a couple. The cost per plate will the same no matter who is served.
There must be couples where one is the outdoors person and the other is not. Just because their spouse does not want to attend, why do they have to pay $10 more?
Ducks Unlimited, can you rationalize this?
