Bass tourney filling up fast

With registrations open for less than two weeks, the first-annual Lake Despair Lodge “Castin’ for Cash” tournament is almost full.
Registration for the live-release tournament, slated July 7-8, opened April 13 and already is close to reaching its 50-team limit.
“I had two calls this morning, everything is moving along great,” noted Bill Godin, owner of Lake Despair Lodge.
As of Monday, 43 teams had signed up. “We’ve got room for seven more so if anybody wants to sign up, they’d better hurry,” said Godin.
Among those signed up are reigning Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship champ Denis Barnard, along with FFCBC regulars Dale LaBelle and Jody Shypit.
There are also three couples competing in the tournament, six father-son teams, and one woman team so far.
“Everything’s rolling along quite well. It looks like we have a number of volunteers,” noted Godin.
