“You are invited to celebrate the annual anniversary and reading of the will of the late Lord William Rutherford. If you dare to attend, an evening of murder, mayhem, and fiendish fun awaits.”
So reads the advertisement for the Fort Frances Little Theatre’s production of “Murder of the Rutherford House”–a dinner theatre performance that takes to the stage starting tomorrow at the Red Dog Inn.
Director Cathy Richards assured the cast of 12 has been working on it long and hard.
“It’s going pretty good. But it’s a little tricky–we really have to find out what’s going to happen when we have an audience,” she admitted, referring to the interactive nature of the play.
“There are going to be a few loud noises during the show so people should know ahead of time to expect that,” Richards warned.
“This is the only type of play where the cast gets to talk directly to the audience,” she noted. “It is also a lot of fun for the audience because they can participate with the cast as much or as little as they want.”
With the last-minute touches done, Richards and the cast now are just waiting for the opportunity to put on their show.
“We have our costumes done and the cast is all ready,” she said. “We are just hoping people will come out and enjoy a good meal and a good mystery.”
The show will be staged Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. Cocktails are at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7. Tickets are available at the Red Dog Inn and Northwoods Gallery & Gifts for $30 each.
A matinee performance also will be held Sunday (April 29) at 1 p.m. Tickets cost $12 each for that one (no meal).
