Emo Bandits strike gold

The Emo Bandits (Tweens) ringette team captured the gold medal at a four-team tournament in Atikokan over the weekend, doubling Dryden #2 4-2 in the championship game.
Sarah Barton led the Bandits with two goals while Jayme Strachan and Stephanie Strachan netted one apiece.
Emo opened the tournament with a 4-3 win over that same Dryden team on goals by Sara Marusyk, Barton, Stephanie Strachan, and Sarah O’Sullivan.
The Bandits then dumped Dryden #1 by a 9-3 count. Barton once again was the offensive star, this time netting five goals. Stephanie Strachan (two), Jayme Strachan, and O’Sullivan were the other goal scorers.
Emo then earned a berth into the final after trouncing host Atikokan 14-0.
Jen Carmody, Stephanie Strachan, Katelyn McTavish, and Barton each netted a pair of goals while Jayme Strachan, Danielle O’Sullivan, Marusyk, Riley Ogden, Sarah O’Sullivan, and Jamie Lee Baker added singles.
Ogden was the team’s assist leader for the weekend with three while Stephanie Strachan, O’Sullivan, and McTavish each had two.
Megan Bob was strong in goal for Emo all weekend.
In Belle division action, the Emo Bandits went 1-2-1 record to finish in fourth place in Atikokan.
They lost the bronze-medal game 7-6 to Kenora despite two-goal efforts from Carling Barton and Trista Barker. Dolly Teeple and Aimey Flatt also scored in the loss.
Emo began the tournament on a winning note, doubling Kenora 6-3. Barker had a hat trick in that one while Tara Lloyd (two) and Flatt also scored.
But then they lost 4-3 to Atikokan (Barker, Teeple, and Nikki Baker were the goal scorers) before skating to a 4-4 tie with Dryden. Barker (two), Lloyd, and Teeple scored for Emo.
Seline LeBlanc led the team in assists with three while Barton added a pair. Several other players registered one assist.
