The local B•Macs ‘AA’ Bantam hockey team lost 8-2 to Shattuck-St. Mary’s (Minneapolis) in the semi-finals of a tournament in Brandon on Sunday.
Shattuck, a private school coached by former NHL’er J.P. Parise, jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Clayton Windigo and Jordan Wilson got the B•Macs back in it with second-period markers.
But Shattuck iced the victory with four unanswered goals.
The B•Macs had finished pool play with a 3-1 record, opening action with a 5-1 win over the Winkler Flyers. Jeff Friesen and Ian Lockman led the way with two goals each while A.J. Tucker netted the other one.
After losing their next game 9-3 to the host Brandon Wheat Kings (Tucker, with two, and Joel Burghardt scored in that one), the B•Macs rebounded with a 6-4 win over the Assiniboine Park Rangers (Winnipeg) fuelled by two-goal performances by Tucker, Friesen, and Lockman.
Tucker also had three assists.
The B•Macs then wrapped up pool play by doubling Dryden 6-3.
Windigo and Tucker each scored twice while Andrew Wiersema and Nathan Miller netted singles.
