Any young entrepreneurs wanting to attend a Rainy River Future Development Corp.’s workshop geared just for them still have time to sign up, with 20 of the 30 spots having been filled.
“It’s not a problem if people want to sign up tomorrow,” projects co-ordinator Angela Halvorsen said of the conference, which runs tomorrow from 1-5 p.m. at the Red Dog Inn here.
And she’s leaving the door open in hopes of getting a full house.
“This is a free workshop for youth, ages 15-29, getting their own business off the ground, so come on, we’re waiting for you,” Halvorsen enthused.
Although more than 30 can attend, they would miss out on the information packages, which are limited in supply.
But Halvorsen is pleased to see everything else working out as planned,
including all eight speakers still attending, which she stressed were the heart of the workshop.
“The idea of the guest speakers is to have some familiar face . . . attendees know they can go to for help. They’re friendly and informative,” she remarked.
The speakers include Ted Stewart of Stewart & Sande, Don Lovisa of Confederation College, Brian MacDonald of Northern Lights Credit Union, Mike Maxton of Extreme Electronics, Cindy Bernie of the Northwest Training and Adjustment Board, and Jack Hendry of the RRFDC.
Similar to a small business seminar held for adults last fall, this one will be aimed more at students setting up a part-time or casual business, such as painting and mowing lawns.
