Emo minor hockey teams certainly weren’t gracious hosts over the past week, winning five of their seven games.
In Atom action, Maverick Judson scored with just six seconds left to lift the Emo Esso Leafs to a narrow 4-3 win over Gillons’ (Fort Frances).
The Leafs were down 2-1 after the first stanza but stormed back to tie the game at 3-3 through two periods, paving the way for Judson’s heroics in the dying seconds.
B. Benjamin, Terry Carmody, and N. Debungie also scored for Emo while Andrew Easton (two) and Garrick Bolzan replied for Gillons’.
Meanwhile, the Emo Selects didn’t waste any time against the visiting MEC Bulldogs (Fort Frances), skating away with a 5-1 victory.
Nathan Brigham had a hat trick for the Selects while Cody McKinnon and Tyson Romyn added singles. The Bulldogs lone goal scorer was not listed.
In PeeWee action, both Emo teams were victorious. Gillons’ got one goal in each period to edge the visiting Kentucky Colonels (Fort Frances) 3-2.
Scott Galusha, Brian Vargas, and Brett Meyers tallied for Emo while Tim Windigo netted both Colonels counters.
Meanwhile, the Emo Predators bit the Sharks (Fort Frances) 2-1 on goals by David Pollard and Dylan McGinnis. The Sharks marksman was not available.
In the lone Novice game, Baudette, making a rare appearance, handed the Emo Wings a 4-3 setback on goals by Steve Young (three) and Natalie Ramiller.
Jared Baker (two) and Kyle Goertzen replied for Emo.
And Emo once again sang the Blues in Midget action as the Legion (Fort Frances) earned a 2-1 victory.
Marc Foley netted the game-winner after Nic Botsford had scored in the first period to give the Legion a 1-0 lead.
Justin Hamilton scored Emo’s only goal in the third but that was as close as the Blues would come.
In a tune-up for the girls’ hockey tournament in Emo last weekend, the Emo Bantam Cowboys handed D&A Construction an 8-3 setback.
Jake Boettcher and Jason Caul led the Cowboys with two goals each while Jeff Hyatt, Jeremy Hyatt, Tyler Mann, and Jonathon Kinnear added singles.
Michelle Veldhuisen (two) and Brooke Shabatura replied for D&A.
