With July 1 just around the corner, the local “Friends of Animals” is getting ready for its first float to take to the streets during the annual Canada Day parade.
“We are really excited about the parade and our first float,” said chairwoman Susan Cousineau. “We have designed a float that looks like a dog shelter with a picket fence around it.
“We have created this float to help promote our goal of building an animal shelter in town,” she noted.
Hoping to get some help from the public, Cousineau is encouraging children to get dressed up as cats and dogs to ride along with the float.
“We would love it if children would get dressed up and come out to join us during the parade,” she enthused. “We have 12 seats on the float so if there are children who would love to ride on the float, they should contact us to let us know.
“If anyone wants to come out and be in the parade with us, they should call us to let us know,” she added. “We would like to have an equal number of cats and dogs on the float, but we certainly won’t turn away someone if they show up.”
