Sad sight

Dear sir:
It makes me really sad to see such a blatant disregard for our environment, especially with all the new acts and policies that were put into place to protect our earth for future generations.
Last Saturday (June 24), I was relaxing at Pither’s Point with my family, which I often do on my days off. We either go swimming, play in the park, or fishing. It was on this day between 3:30 and 4 p.m. that I saw a total disrespect for our waters and the environment included within them.
While touring the Lookout Tower, I noticed the Couchiching Fire Department training with one of their pumper trucks. The truck in question was obviously their foam truck since the name “Bubbles” appeared on the front fender and they were spraying foam (a substance mixed with water to produce a foaming agent) directly into the water source at the beginning of Rainy River.
Having some experience with this foaming agent myself, I have read the MSDS sheets on this product and I am aware that this is not the type of substance that should be sprayed into or around any water source.
I just hope that not enough of this mixture was released to substantiate any adverse affects on our ecosystem.
The next time they are training, I hope they take into consideration any effects they may have on water quality, and that they train well away from any water source when working with foam.
