Muskie hockey tryouts to resume later

The Muskie boys’ hockey team hasn’t been officially selected yet, and assistant coach Ken Christiansen noted nobody’s spot on the roster is secure.
“Tryouts aren’t over. We just hold tryouts now so we can cut the team down to workable numbers,” he explained. “We do it in the summer because it saves us a week in the fall.”
Once September rolls around, Christiansen said those players who weren’t cut from the team last week will be put on a weight training program.
Christiansen added the Muskies usually are behind most other hockey teams in NorWOSSA.
“We don’t like to interfere with other sports–once football is over, we will get started,” he said. “It isn’t fair to have the kids go to football practice and then have them come and practice for us.”
Christiansen also noted there were some pretty talented players trying out for the team this year.
“There will be some good battles for the spots–nobody’s job is secure,” he stressed.
