Donating refund

Dear sir:
Many people in the province soon will be receiving a cheque from the provincial government illustrating their gross misuse of our tax dollars. They are sending out millions of our tax dollars to everyone in the province who paid income taxes.
If this money were being paid to the thousands of people making less than the minimum wage, who were demonstrating at Queen’s Park several months ago, it would make more sense. But this money is going to the wealthier people in the province in amounts too small to do no one any good.
Meanwhile, people in the province are dying from tainted water due to government cuts in supervisory services. Our highways in the north are being neglected due to lack of government funding. Our education system is in a state of warfare because of government cuts. Our medical system is still severely underfunded. The people overseeing our precious environment are insufficient to ensure it will be protected.
About a month ago, your government sent every citizen in the province a glossy brochure detailing all the wonderful things they were doing in the field of education. That document cost you and I millions of dollars. The most unfortunate thing about the document is that it is basically not true.
Everything in the field of education is not wonderful. There is utter chaos out there. Ontario has been blacklisted by all the teacher federations in Canada. Students at university are being advised not to teach in Ontario because it is such a hostile environment for teachers.
Teachers refusing to do extra-curricular activities are being threatened with fines and jail sentences if they refuse to comply with government edicts.
This was a very misleading document that cost you and I millions of dollars.
I intend to take my $200 when it arrives and hand it over to the school board. Those who can should consider donating their refund to the hospital, school board, or any other group they feel is suffering due to government cuts.
