Local PeeWees thumped by Kenora

The local ‘AA’ PeeWee rep hockey team now sports a 1-1 record after falling to Kenora 8-2 on Sunday afternoon in their first road game of the season.
Kenora had jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first period but Justin Larson put the Fort squad on the score board to make it 2-1.
Kenora netted two more goals to go up 4-1 before Tyler Miller scored with 1:45 left to make it 4-2 after a wild first period.
It was all Kenora in the second frame, netting two goals while holding the Fort scoreless to lead 6-2 heading into the third.
Kenora also dominated the final period, getting two more goals to round out the scoring.
Meanwhile, in other hockey news the Sunset Country Ford Mustangs ‘AA’ Atoms played their first exhibition game against Kenora last weekend.
Fort Frances came out on top with a 5-2 win over Kenora.
Tyler Harris scored three goals assisted by Andrew Easton, Ben Drazonovich and Kyle Herr each netted one assisted by Kevin Bobczynski, Danny Chapman and Brian Glavish netted one each.
“They played excellent for their first game,” enthused coach Joe Bobczynski.
Fort Frances will meet up with Kenora again next Sunday here in the ‘Ice for Kids’ arena at 11:30 a.m.
