Contradictory

Dear editor:
I am writing in regards to the huge controversy going on regarding the spring bear hunt.
I can’t see what the big fuss is. Unfortunately, we recently had the issue concerning the puppies that were found in the dumpster and many people responded to that with compassion.
My question is why can’t people have the same compassion for the bears? It seems to me people easily lose focus when it comes to the almighty dollar.
Yes–it is a huge money-making business. But the bears are being slaughtered for nothing. Why can’t people have compassion for them, too?
It appears contradictory to me.
