Wrestling show set to explode here Sunday

The Canadian Wrestling Fed-eration is coming back to the area.
The Ice for Kids Arena here will be the stage this Sunday at 2 p.m. for the same extreme matches and amazing stunts—complete with some new tricks of the trade.
This is all to help out the local Chamber of Commerce, with the added bonus of bringing something different to Fort Frances.
“The Chamber is looking to bring in different events in the next year,” said co-ordinator Dawn Booth. “We are doing our best to give the people of Fort Frances something different to participate in.”
Tickets are available at the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce, Rainy Lake Sports and Tackle, Red Dog Inn, Village Variety in Emo, and KGHS/KSDM Radio in International Falls.
They range between $8-$15.
Already set to compete is “Spyder,” the National Wrestling Alliance Canadian champion weighing in at a powerful 225 pounds.
He also enjoyed past reigns as the NWA North American champ, CWF Hardcore champ, and co-holder of the NWA Canadian tag championship.
Another hot topic is the formation of the biggest “heel” group in the CWF—the “Seeds of Evil”—which includes the tag team of the Big Kahuna and Overkill a.k.a. “The Tower and the Power.”
They have a combined weight of 500 pounds and currently hold the CWF tag team championship. They rarely are seen in the ring without their lovely escort, Ginger, who often does anything in her power to see that her men come out victorious.
Another forceful part of the “Seeds of Evil” faction would have to be EZ Ryder, the former American Wrestling Association Intercontinental champion, who currently has a huge rivalry with Dryden native Dark Rain, a big star really making an impact in the CWF.
But unquestionably the most powerful member of the “Seeds of Evil,” and one of the fastest-rising CWF stars, is Dean “Madman” Martin.
Martin, a 34-year-old product of Emo, has been touring Western Canada and the Northwest Territories over the last few weeks. He is the Can-Am heavyweight champion touring with such great wrestlers as Phil Lafon, former WWF superstar.
No matter who is opponent is, Martin will be showing Fort Frances one thing—“There’s only ONE Madman!”
Many of the CWF’s junior heavyweight wrestlers also will be on hand here Sunday. These include the current CWF Hardcore champion, “Rebel” Bobby Collins, who beat “Womanizer” Cory Diamond for the CWF junior heavyweight title last weekend.
Along with “The Ladies Man” Christopher Charisma, T.A. Lover, and the always entertaining veteran Caveman Broda, these incredible junior heavyweight superstars will sure add a lot to the card.
Many returning superstars also will be here to show just what they have. This includes Baron Von Meaner, the man who came within a whisker of being crowned the North American champ last August in Emo.
He’s currently been having run-ins with Justin Tyme, a man who will be making his wrestling debut in Fort Frances on Sunday. Another Dryden native, Dr. Love, along with his valet, Nurse Mona, also will be on the card.
“We are just so glad to be coming back into Ontario,” said Ernie Todd, head promoter of the CWF and a candidate for mayor of Winnipeg. “We are hoping to be travelling all over the area from Atikokan to Red Lake and, of course, be making a return to Emo.”
Local celebrities also will be testing their skills in the squared-circle as the Original Northwestern Ontario heavyweight champ, “The Raw Deal,” will defend his title against “Sweet” Mike Massive.
“Raw Deal” was born and raised in Fort Frances, but is looking to keep his identity shrouded in secrecy until his match. He has been a big fan of wrestling and can’t wait to perform before the home town crowd.
“‘Massive’ is dead meat,” said Raw Deal. “He has been riding my coattails thinking he’s the original NWO heavyweight champ. He has no chance because when we get nose to nose, one thing’s going to happen—I am going to bounce him like a cheque.”
“Massive,” a former defensive end for the University of Manitoba Bison football team, was tossed off the team for excessive roughness. This mammoth tips the scale at close to 500 pounds and hails from parts unknown.
And he’s ready to show “Raw Deal” that he’s the big dog in this yard.
To keep this match fair, “Chef Carl” will be brought in as a special guest referee. Da Chef is a mean and tough specimen ready to show these guys that playtime is over.
