Incredible visit

Dear sir:
Emo town council recently had the privilege to participate in a trip to Ottawa, organized by the office of local MP Bob Nault.
This appears to have been a first—where mayors and/or their representatives from throughout a single federal riding were invited to Canada’s capital en masse by their member of Parliament.
About 15 politicians and administrators from several municipalities in the Kenora-Rainy River Riding—including Emo and Rainy River from this district—joined organizer Julian Morelli for three incredible days.
We toured the Parliament buildings, sat in on Question Period, and met personally with several well-chosen ministers and/or their aides.
Our itinerary was well-organized, and we were given the unique opportunity to present our riding problems and ideas to the various ministers and their staff—in person.
We generally came home with a much better understanding of operational requirements in Ottawa, as well as being able to effectively communicate points that normally would take much longer by correspondence.
The ministers we met showed a keen interest in our ideas, and we were gratified by their personal observations and input.
We also had the added benefit of daily breakfast and dinner meetings with our colleagues, being able to discuss the immediate thoughts and problems that arise within municipal/federal operations and relationships.
This was certainly a valuable aspect of the trip and our municipal free-time discussions were most productive.
We would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Mr. Nault and his dedicated staff for organizing and hosting a very worthwhile event.
In our observation, the trip was indeed very successful and we strongly recommend every municipality in the area take part in future planned excursions.
Sincerely,
Coun. Gary Judson
and Coun. Doug Hodge
