Joe started his work journey in Sudbury at the Falcon Bridge Mine for 18 years. He continued his working journey in numerous local gold mines in Northeastern Ontario. In Kirkland Lake, Ontario, as a diamond driller, and where he met his life partner Denise.

Dad was often seen walking his little buddy of 18 years, Boomer. Dad loved working out in the yard in his retirement years, tinkering on odd projects, such as building things. He loved carpentry work. Dad loved working on John Deere Lawn mowers, John Deere Farm Tractors and boats. His passion was painting and repairing vehicles, boats or anything that needed attention. He was the Jack of all trades. If anybody needed a tool they went to Dad. He had a lot of them.
He loved to fish and hunt in his early years. He always looked forward to the surprise lunches mom would prepare for their outing. Every Saturday night you would find him at the Emo Racetrack. Aside from his hobby, his passion was racing. Watching Nascar racing on TV was his entertainment, he loved it. Dad loved auctions, he would often come home with more than what he left with. You would often find him there. We will all miss him. He will be remembered by many.
Dad had a great sense of humour. He joined the Lions Club and enjoyed mingling and loved telling funny stories.
Dad fought a long, courageous battle but showed us his bravery in the fight. He is now resting in peace and free from pain.
Thanks to the wonderful staff of the La Verendrye Hospital. On behalf of my mom and myself we would like to thank the nursing staff and the wonderful doctors who took special care of my dad during his long stay and peaceful departure in his final days. Special thank you to Dr. Laxton and Dr. Rubenstein for the wonderful care they gave him.
As per his wishes, dad will be cremated. There will be no service or memorial. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society c/o Northridge Funeral Home, Box 89, Emo, Ontario, P0W 1E0.
