An early morning fire has caused significant damage to Rose Manor in Fort Frances. The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Services said they responded to the fire in the early hours of Tuesday, Sept. 22, and were still checking for hot spots hours later. The incident is currently under investigation by the OPP, and so no comment was immediately received regarding the cause of the fire or if there any related injuries. A spokesperson for the District of Rainy River Services Board (DRRSB), who manage the property, said that they have staff responding to the incident to support affected residents.
“Fire services remain on scene, and DRRSB staff and crisis-support workers are on site working directly with tenants and others affected by the incident,” DRRSB said in its statement. “Our immediate priority is the safety, well-being and support of those impacted. Access to the property may remain restricted while emergency response efforts continue. Tenants who require information or assistance can contact 807-274-5349.”
