The Rainy Lake Nordic Ski Club is doing maintenance on the trails Sept. 26 and 27 from 9 a.m. both days with coffee and donuts. Hike and help with weeding, trimming, cutting and raking. The Fort Frances Times and the Fort Frances Labour Council will be hosting an Election Town Hall on Oct. 1 at the Memorial Sports Centre Auditorium at 6:30 p.m.. All Fort Frances Town Council and Mayoral Candidates will have the opportunity to speak and take some questions from voters.
Kids and Company will have its first show of it’s 2026-27 season on Oct. 6 at St. Mary School, at 6 p.m. featuring Magician Marc Trudel and his show “A Brand New Story.” “A Brand New Story returns audiences to The Mysterious School, where Marc Trudel blends dazzling magic, music, and humour to celebrate the importance of storytelling. From classic tales in books to his grandparents’ fishing stories, Marc explores how we learn, share, and pass on stories across generations. A champion magician with a gift for connection, Marc creates an imaginative, interactive performance for young and old alike— where magic and story come together in unforgettable ways!” All Kids and Company shows are free but donations are gratefully accepted.
CMHA Fort Frances Will hold the 11th annual Steps Against Stigma glow walk/run on Oct. 7. 6:45 pm opening ceremonies 7:00 pm walk/run Dress in your best GLOW! Prizes will be awarded for Best Glow (Adult/Child), Best Glow Group, Best Glow Pet. Water and healthy snacks will be provided.

The La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop is looking for volunteers. The hours are Monday-Friday, from noon – 3:30 p.m. OPP criminal record check is required. Help is available with this, as well as gift shop training and support. All funds raised go to the Auxiliary to honour our pledges for capital equipment at La Verendrye General Hospital. The Rainycrest Tuck Shop is accepting donations– Great items for donation are things like large stuffed bears, gift items and items for residents to place on their night stands or wall/door. Proceeds from the Tuck Shop go to the Rainycrest Auxiliary, and benefit residents. Donations can be dropped off inside the main entrance, labelled ATTN: Tuck Shop.
