Waabishkibinesiik
Sharon, Waabishkibinesiik, of the Name’ (Sturgeon) clan was, born in Fort Frances and raised in Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation. Later she moved to Fort Frances and then settled in Rainy River
She was a beloved mother of three, grandmother, sister, auntie, friend to many (she had many special cousin friends, which she adored).
Sharon is survived by her three children Trevor Boshey, Trisha Boshey and Tucker Morrison; grandchildren Javaun, Dreyson, Nevanna, Trevor Jr., and Violet; siblings Dennis (Roseanne), Roger (Crystal), David (Dawn), Kim, and Joy-Anne; plus numerous nephews and nieces, aunties and uncles, cousins, too numerous to mention.
She was predeceased by her parents June and Albert Morrison; siblings Darlene, Shannon, Albert Jr., and Jeff Morrison; nieces Tami and Shyla; nephews Daniel Morrison, Dennis Wayne Jr.
Sharon found pleasure in being a mother and found deep happiness and pleasure in being a grandmother, she loved spending time with her grandchildren…her grandchildren were the light of her life!
Sharon loved sewing, she enjoyed making skirts. She loved playing bagesewin (traditional dish game) with her peers in Gakijiwanong. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing volleyball, baseball and broomball and was no stranger to the game of hockey, she loved watching her favourite team Toronto Maple Leafs
Sharon was always actively involved in the planning and helping out for the Gakijiwanong annual pow-wow.
Prior to her illness, Sharon worked many years for Gakijiwanong as Ontario Works Worker; she found enjoyment in her job, assisting and supporting people in a positive way. Sharon was actively involved and primary member of the Bear Clan group in Fort Frances and surrounding area
Sharon was a very kind hearted Anishinaabekwe, always open to being there for others (family/friends/anyone in need), when you were her friend, you were her friend, a strong independent Ikwe, wholeheartedly believed in the power of the Anishinaabe traditional beliefs and practises, and the warrior Ikwe that she was, she had no problem speaking her truth. Sharon found solace and her unwavering faith/trust in the mide way of life.
A traditional wake was held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation at 4:00 p.m. with traditional funeral the following day, August 28, at 10:00 a.m.
Pallbearers were chosen with asemaa offering.
Honorary pallbearers were her cousin, nephews and niece; Stef, Krystine, Christopher, Pern Jr.
Arrangements entrusted to Northridge Funeral Home Ltd., Emo, Ontario.
