St. Mary’s Church is partnering with the Salvation Army in the “After the Bell” program. This program, sponsored by Food Banks Canada, offers child-friendly nutritious food packs to young children 12 and under throughout the summer months when other food supports are unavailable. Food packs will be available for pickup every Sunday between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. in July and August at St. Mary’s Church, at 209 Victoria Ave. in Fort Frances. This program is open to all children of the district.
Summer Sounds in the Square concert series continues at 6 p.m. next Wednesday Aug. 12 featuring Rough Cut Pine at Rainy Lake Square featuring Thinking of Pinky. Bring your own chair and some cash for food and drink from Flint House.
Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society Fall Fair in Emo is less than 10 days away. Aug. 13-15 at the fairgrounds in Emo with everything you love. Midway rides, horse show, small animal barn, exhibition hall, steer auction and much, much more!
Muskie Football’s Speed and Strength Training program runs from Monday August 17 to Friday August 21 from 6 to 8 PM at the high school and is mandatory for all new and returning players. Equipment fitting will take place during this time. All new players are welcome with no experience required.

The Rainy Lake Readers Book Club meets the third Tuesday of each month from 6:00-7:45 at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre. Visit the Library and check out the display of this month’s book selections. New members always welcome.

The La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop is looking for volunteers. The hours are Monday-Friday, from noon – 3:30 p.m. OPP criminal record check is required. Help is available with this, as well as gift shop training and support. All funds raised go to the Auxiliary to honour our pledges for capital equipment at La Verendrye General Hospital. The Rainycrest Tuck Shop is accepting donations– Great items for donation are things like large stuffed bears, gift items and items for residents to place on their night stands or wall/door. Proceeds from the Tuck Shop go to the Rainycrest Auxiliary, and benefit residents. Donations can be dropped off inside the main entrance, labelled ATTN: Tuck Shop.
