There will be Bingo at the newly remodelled Dance Hall on August 6. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Players must be 18 years of age to play.
The Dance Hall fundraising committee and volunteers are having a walleye fish fry on Sunday, August 30, from 4-6 p.m. Walleye, salads, baked beans, desserts and all the fixings will be served. Adult meals are $25, kids 7-12 years pay $15 and ages 6 and under eat free. All funds raised will go towards continued renovations on the Dance Hall.
Advance tickets are available at Devlin’s Store, Cloverleaf Grocers, and General Supply. Tickets will also be available at the door.
NFN (Naicatchewenin First Nation) are having their Fall Bass and Walleye Classic on September 11 and 12, 2026. Mark your calendars for this fun filled always enjoyed tournament. The cost to enter is $400.00 per team. Entry fees can be sent to NFN-FBWC@outlook.com. The take off order is based on first paid, first in basis. All entrees are none refundable. Sincere sympathy and prayers from the district to the family and friends of LaVerne “Miikanakwe” Caul in her recent passing. LaVerne fought a long hard battle with cancer, being a strong women she fought the disease just like she would fight for anything she believed in. She will be sadly missed by family and friends (of which there are many). Her smile and twinkling eyes will live in the memories of many. LaVerne worked hard, and loved even harder. May all those grieving draw strength in knowing the district is grieving with you all.
Sending Patrick Hyatt wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Pay recently underwent ablation surgery his heart. The surgery took place in Toronto. Pat is home and recovering and hopes to be back to work soon.
Happy 80th birthday to Norman Hyatt. Norm reached this milestone birthday on Saturday, August 1. He was honoured with a birthday party at his home with many well wishers attending. The district sends Norm wishes for a healthy upcoming year followed by many more.
The Rainy River District Fall Fair is just around the corner, this years dates are August 13, 14 and 15. There truly is something for everyone with agriculture, cattle shows, 4-H, delicious food booths, stock car races, the excitement of the Fair Ambassador being announced, loggers contest and so much more. The fair’s motto for many years has been, “come as a stranger, leave as a friend,” and truer words have never been said. See ya all at the fair!!!

Eighty-two-year-old Morris visited his doctor for a routine health check.
A few days later, the doctor spotted Morris happily walking down the street with a beautiful young woman by his side.
The next time they met, the doctor smiled and said, “You seem to be enjoying life these days!”
Morris grinned and replied, “I’m just following your advice, Doc. You told me to ‘get a hot mama and stay cheerful.’”
The doctor laughed and shook his head.
“No, Morris, that’s not what I said,” the doctor replied.
