THUNDER BAY — A man who was initially charged with attempted murder has pleaded guilty to four charges, including one count of discharging a firearm with intent to harm.
Kyle Ramlakhan was arrested on Oct. 22, 2024 for his involvement in a shooting on Wiley Street on July 28, 2024.
At the time of his arrest, he was located by police during a separate investigation.
No injuries were reported following the July 28 incident, but multiple bullet holes were evident at a home in the 400 block of Wiley Street.
Ramlakhan, who was 21 at the time of his arrest, made a video appearance in court on Monday where he voluntarily pleaded guilty to the intent to harm with an unregistered firearm, instead of attempted murder in relation to the July 28, 2024 incident. He also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a release order.
Ramlakhan also pleaded guilty to two charges in relation to the October 2024 incident — possession of a prohibited firearm with readily accessible ammunition while not holding a licence or a registration and failing to comply with a release order to be residing at an Oakville address.
The matter will return to court later this summer to set a sentencing date.
