Once again, I am sitting waiting for a flight to Toronto as I write this “Moos” update. I had a BFO Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, so I’m making my way back home after the meeting. It will be a long day, and I will wait and see what the weather is doing before I make my late-night drive home.
If we get the rain they are predicting I might just stay and get up early Wednesday and drive to work. It always seems like a great idea to drive home once you get off the plane until you are halfway home and can barely keep your eyes open. June is normally a virtual board meeting, but because of all the issues, we decided it was best to meet in person.
If you have been past the station, I am sure you are wondering why our grass hasn’t been cut. Worse yet, we are behind on trimming our plots. Unfortunately, our broken lawnmower is waiting for a back-ordered part. After we did some file searching, we discovered our lawnmower was new in 2018 and has cut a fair bit of grass since then.
I asked and got approval for a new lawnmower, and the plan is to keep the old one for doing the plot trimming! My girls were to pick up the new one after I left, and I will be honest, I was completely jealous that they were getting the chance to get on that new one first. We have some big plans to get back on track this week, but when we checked the weather, it appeared that might change our plans.
I am still trying to avoid thinking about the poor hay crops. I am hoping that our weather will warm up and we will see some growth. I have both of our tractors serviced and ready to go, so once I am home, I will put out the haying equipment.
I am a bit sad that July 1 falls mid-week because having a long weekend with good weather sure would be a bonus. I have my butcher animals south of my house, and three of them are heifers. Of course, they are in heat every three weeks, and it really stirs up the bulls.
The biggest bull pushed the gate so hard that it broke the chain! Thankfully, I was able to call them out back to the yard, but if I hadn’t have noticed, they would have been long gone to pasture. Ugh. Bulls are great and much needed, but the big beasts are a pain in the off-season.
I offered to cook Shane something nice for Father’s Day, but he asked for homemade pizza. So we had a great supper on Sunday night, and we had enough leftovers for everyone’s lunch this week!
My youngest niece graduates on Thursday night, and I am looking forward to celebrating with her! I am really excited for Rachel St. Croix and Code Sargeant for being chosen to deliver the valedictorian speeches! I am very proud of these kids! I am hoping I can sneak away to Dryden on Saturday to celebrate with my favourite Dryden twins, who are graduating as well!
