The Township of LaVallee Seniors 55 plus Recreational Committee is hosting a coffee break afternoon. This long-awaited coffee break takes place June 30, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the newly renovated hall.
Come out and see the improvements and updates that have taken place at the hall and enjoy coffee, tea and dainties.
Regular bi-weekly senior coffee breaks will resume in September. There will be a grand opening for everyone later in the summer or early fall.
The Municipality of LaVallee has recently hired David Shine as a casual employee. David is currently doing grass cutting. David has relocated from Emo to his hometown of Devlin. He is living with his mother, Lois Shine and helping with her daily living needs. Welcome back, David, from our community.
Clint Sisco has returned home after over two weeks in Fort Frances and Thunder Bay hospitals. The district sends Clint all the best for continued recovery.
The Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society, in partnership with Borderland Racing, will celebrate Canada Day events on Saturday, June 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The fun day full of events takes place at the Emo Fairgrounds. There will be a car show, vendors and food booths, a dunk tank, bouncy castles, a fire truck, meet the stock car drivers, plus much more. The stock car races begin at 6:30 p.m. The best-dressed in Canadian attire will win free passes to the races, there will be trick or treat in the pits, plus kids’ bike draws during the races. All are welcome to attend this fun-filled day.
The last day of school for students in the Rainy River District is Friday, June 26, with school resuming on Tuesday, Sept. 8. All drivers are reminded to take extra caution on the road as kids will be out and about on bikes and walking.
