The annual Emo Legion Good Friday Fish Fry is set to go this Friday, April 3. This is always a delicious meal of walleye, baked beans, potato, macaroni and noodle slaw salads, corn, buns, desserts and coffee/tea.
Take outs are available, meals must be picked up between 4 – 4:45 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, age 10 and under pay $15. Tickets are available at the Legion Club room on Wednesday to Saturday from 4 – 6 p.m. or at Tompkins or Tompkins Outdoors.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Doreen Thompson. She will be sadly missed by he family, especially her grandchildren, and friends. May you gain strength in knowing your community is holding you close in our hearts at this sad time.
Another season of four Lenten Lunches was enjoyed by the community, thanks to participating ministers. Since 2015, Emo Knox United Church has organized this worship series. An average of 40 people enjoyed a soup and sandwich lunch provided by local churches. This year $945.00 was collected and donated to the United Churches of Canada’s Mission and Service fund. Thanks to all volunteers for their continuous support.
The Fugitives Dance Band from Manitoba will perform at the Emo Legion on April 11. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the dance is from 7 – 10 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Legion, Tompkins or Tompkins Outdoors.
Spring Days takes place this year April 16 – 18. Emo organizers welcome people from all over the district to attend. There will be sales, draws and lots of visiting with people you only see at Spring Fever Days!
The Sunset Country Metis Council in partnership with Northwestern Ontario Metis Child and Family Services invites you to their Spring Gathering on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Sunset Country Metis Hall, Fort Frances. Doors open at 1 p.m. with traditional crafts, games, jigging, spoons and Michif Bingo. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. This event is open to everyone and is free.

Circle your calendar for the Sunset Country Metis Spring Feast on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #59 in Rainy River, featuring Brandi Vezina on her Highways and Wildflowers Tour. Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner, followed by Brandi and her band.
Tickets will be available in the near future.
Ag Day takes place April 11, at the Chapple Rec Centre. There will be keynote speakers, displays and vendors will be presenting their farming products/materials. Tickets for the luncheon can be purchased at the cost of $10. This event takes place from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
