Dad, son excel at tourney

Six Sunset Country Squash Club members travelled to Winnipeg over the weekend to participate in the 2007 Manitoba Open pro-am tournament.
Mark Faragher fought hard, playing five-set marathons in three of his four matches en route to winning the ‘C’ division title.
He picked up wins over Toth (3-0), Fontaine (3-2), and Wood (3-2) before defeating Kenora’s Mike McCaffrey (3-2) to capture the championship.
Faragher’s son, Chad, also had a successful tournament in Winnipeg, coming home with the ‘D’ consolation title.
The younger Faragher lost his opening match to Kenora’s Ian Winter (3-2) but then rang off three-straight victories, including one over Winnipeg’s Shuster in the ‘D’ consolation final.
Other local squashers who attended the 2007 Manitoba Open included Ross Kircher, Donny Brown, Steve Boileau, and Dave Gustafson.
The Sunset Country Squash Club returns to action later this month when it hosts the annual La Place Rendez-Vous tournament Feb. 16-18 at the Memorial Sports Centre.
