Muskie girls sweep Red Lake

If only the Muskie girls’ hockey squad could convince the schedule makers to include the Red Lake Rams on their regular itinerary.
The black-and-gold remained perfect against the Rams this season, beating them 5-3 on Saturday and again 7-5 yesterday in exhibition action to boost their season record to 3-0 against Red Lake.
But the Muskies’ NorWOSSA struggles continued in Kenora on Friday night as they fell to 0-8 in conference play with a lopsided 14-0 loss to the host Broncos.
Goal scorers for the three games were not available as of press time today.
Meanwhile, there was no change to the script when it came to the male Muskies (8-2), who trailed 3-0 after the first period and couldn’t come all the way back in a 5-4 setback at the hands of the Broncos there Friday night.
The loss was the black-and-gold’s second-straight after opening the NorWOSSA campaign with an eight-game winning streak.
“We had a lack of jump in the first,” said Muskie head coach Shane Bliss. “We haven’t had a good first period in a while. We’re digging ourselves too big of a hole.
“I’m not sure what it is at this point.”
Goal scorers were not available as of press time today.
Up next, both teams will host the Dryden Eagles tomorrow night, with the girls facing off in the Ice for Kids Arena while the boys go to battle in the ’52 Canadians Arena.
Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
