The league leaders in the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League are living up to their name.
The Diehards, who have been threatening to take over first place since the start of the season, begin 2003 atop the standings after a strong final week of play before the Christmas break.
Sitting at 56 points, the Diehards hold a four-point lead over second-place and former leader Gillons’ (52) while another former kingpin squad—Scared Hitless—now roosts in third (50).
Sabaskong, a regular resident in the top three, has been bumped down to fourth place with 47.5 points while Power Paks have come on strong in recent weeks to move into fifth (42.5).
The Squirts (32.5) have a slim edge over the Wildcats (31) for sixth spot, with the Mixed Nuts (22), Rookies (12), and Placers (nine) rounding out the standings.
League action resumes tomorrow (Jan. 9) from 7-9:30 p.m. at Fort High and Robert Moore.
