Steve Arpin continued his domination of the field yesterday at the 36th-annual DIRTcar Nationals held at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla.
The Fort Frances native won his fifth-consecutive UMP DIRTcar Racing Modified feature last night and now has taken the checkered flag in five of the first six races at the eight-race event.
The only blemish on Arpin’s sterling record came in the form of a fourth-place finish in the opening race of the Nationals last Tuesday.
A record field of 55 UMP Modified cars currently are competing at the DIRTcar Nationals.
The wins at Volusia Speedway are just the latest in what has been an extremely successful month for Arpin.
The 23-year old took the checkered flag in both feature races at the North Florida Winternationals on Feb. 2-3 at North Florida Speedway in Lake City.
All the winning also has meant great financial gains for Arpin. Including the $1,000 for last night’s win, he’s now won nearly $10,000 in prize money this month alone.
Arpin will be looking to extend his winning streak to six races at Volusia Speedway tonight before competing in the UMP Modified Championship tomorrow night.
