New look at Pharmasave

Have you ever wondered exactly what happens to your roll of film after you drop it off for processing?
People who use the service at Pharmasave here no longer will have to guess, once the Scott Street store completes renovations currently underway there.
What once took place behind the closed door of the photo lab in a corner of the store now has a much-higher visibility thanks to an enlarged lab and picture window which makes the whole process visible to the public.
There are other changes, too. The counter has been moved and enlarged to accommodate both the cash register and a new print scanner, which should be up and running by next week.
And the changes are more than cosmetic, store manager Nancy Kehler said.
“The biggest change will be having the till right here so the customer can pay here instead of having to get back in line,” she noted.
Also, the lab now will offer print-to-print scanning, which allows people to have copies made from existing prints instead of having to dig up those old negatives, which may be cracked or scratched.
Thanks to modern imaging software, even faded or damaged photos now can be restored to their original condition—something to keep in mind if you are planning to submit photos for the Times’ special centennial edition scheduled to be published in April.
