Wishing you happiness and health for 2026!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas, no matter how you choose to celebrate the day! Ours was packed with great food and even better company. I thought it was one of our best suppers; I didn’t overcook the Brussels sprouts and our farm fresh turkey (raised by my cousin Brande) was delish! We had 21 for supper as some of the regular crew couldn’t make it. Boxing Day was another great day of food, family and friends. My friend Debbie has a come and go day at her place that usually sees over 30 people popping in for a visit, food and drink. After our visit there we heading home to do chores and then we were off to Fort Frances for another wonderful meal prepared by my Uncle Jim and cousin Britt. We were able to see a few more Bliss family members that evening as well. Maddie headed back to school on Saturday but we went in to watch Marlee and the Muskie girls as they played a game after a few days off. We did more Christmas visiting Sunday and here we are back to Monday and I just had some of my high school girlfriends out for the morning. I always get a bit sad after Christmas is over as we spend so much time preparing and planning that it seems to pass by so quickly so I love when people continue to visit and spread out this wonderful time of the year!

I will have to get myself back to work soon because otherwise things seem to pile up and I don’t know what to tackle first. I will need to tackle the Rainy River Cattlemen’s work soon as our AGM is quickly approaching on January 15th at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Way School in Stratton. We hope that you will join us! We are still looking for someone to manage the Sales barn for the upcoming season and we are willing to look at that position and perhaps change things up!

I really don’t have any New Year’s plans but I am sure we will end up doing something even if we don’t stay up to see the New Year come in. We have talked about playing some games or a bonfire but I guess we will see how the weather treats us. I hope we are finished with the freezing rain for the time being. All it has done has made it more challenging to get the twine off the hay bales. The cattle don’t like to get off the trails when coming home for water because the crust that the rain created is quite hard and uncomfortable.

I bought myself a used pair of cross-country skis so I think I am going to try them out. I have a group of friends that like to ski and I will join their club (I hope) but I want to make sure I can actually ski before I show up!

I wish you all lots of happiness and health for 2026!
