John Wesley Big George, age 56, of Rainy River, Ontario, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
He was known for his great sense of humour, the warmest and biggest smile, and the best hugs—ones that made everyone feel at home. He lovingly referred to his daughters as “his girls” and was immensely proud of each of them. He cherished his siblings and treasured time spent with family.
He loved to sing and dance and had a special gift for lighting up any room he walked into. His friends will always remember him as a kind, soulful person whose warmth and laughter left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
His family will miss him deeply and will always remember the way he loved and cared for the people closest to him. Dad, we will miss you and will continue to make you proud.

He is survived by his daughters Christa (Jason), Cree-Dawn, Caitlin, Honour, and Lilly; his son Cody; his sisters Virginia (Jimmie) and Verna; his brothers Harold (Louella) and Norman (Elda); and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Janet; his father Joe; his brothers Billy and Tommy; and his nephew Nathan.
A wake was held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 3:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Northridge Funeral Home, Emo, Ontario, with a traditional service on Sunday, December 28, at 10:00 a.m. with Tommy Councilor as elder.
