Once again the West Rainy River District (WRRD) Lions Club made generous donations to local health care facilities.
Rainycrest, Emo Hospital and Rainy River Extended Health Care were recently presented with items each to enhance the three locations.
Items donated included an extra large Connect Four for indoor and outdoor use, a Bubble Sensory Tube that changes colour and has a variety of moving fake fish in it and a Northern Lights Projector to provide a relaxing atmosphere anywhere.
Monies were raised at the Lions’ Hunter’s Supper with a “Pie Roulette Game.”
The WRRD Lions Club members can’t express enough the great support that they receive from businesses and donators to make this event success as well as those that attended. Over 90% of everything that is made goes back to the community.
The lucky winner of Dance Township Community Association 50/50 Raffle was Josh Meyers. He pocketed $10,000.00. All proceeds used for the Dance Hall Restoration Project.

Congratulations to Steph Hyatt and Adam Culbert on their recent engagement. Happy parents are Char Hyatt and Diane and David Culbert.
Congratulations to Darren Hughes on 30 years of service with LaVallee Fire and Emergency Services. Our community thanks you for your dedication to the community.
School resumes for all students in the Rainy River District on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
The Township Of LaVallee’s Municipal Office opens for regular hours on January 2, 2026.

Robin’s 2 Cents:
An elderly woman died last month.
Having never married, she requested no male pallbearers.
In her handwritten instructions for her memorial service she wrote:
“They wouldn’t take me out while I was alive, I don’t want them to take me out when I’m dead.
