The message is clear—Gillons’ isn’t relinquishing its crown without a fight.
With the playoffs just around the corner, the nine-time defending champs of the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League are peaking at the right time as they reclaimed first place after a six-point effort last Thursday night.
Gillons’ big week boosted them to 94 points for the season, shooting them past the Die Hards, who dropped to second place with 89.5 points.
Scared Hitless held steady at 88 points to drop to third while Sabaskong solidified its fourth-place standing with a three-point night last Thursday to end up with 77.5.
The Wildcats maintained fifth place with 66 points, while the Power Paks (58) stretched their lead over the seventh-place Squirts (54.5).
The Mixed Nuts (32) and The Placers (21.5) remained eighth and ninth, respectively, while the Rookies stayed in the basement with 19—despite posting a four-point night last Thursday in their best showing of the season.
Action resumes tonight at 7 p.m. at Fort High and Robert Moore School.
