John Ray Hendrickson of Fort Frances, 55, passed away on November 9, 2025, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, after a short courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 22, 1970, in Kenora, Ontario, John lived a life marked by dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and a deep appreciation for connecting with others.
John was currently employed as a technician at Roger’s (Shaw), where he found great fulfillment in working with the general public. His genuine desire to help others made him a valued member of the team and a familiar face to many in the community. Prior to his time at Roger’s, John worked as a small motor mechanic at various locations in the Rainy River District.
In John’s younger years growing up in Bergland, Ontario, he couldn’t wait for snow. He loved sledding on whatever machine he could get to run. Riding the fields to friends’ or joyriding, John was known to be the first to cross and ride up the creek behind his home every winter.
A man of faith, John attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His spiritual and family life was an important part of who he was and guided many of his actions throughout his life.
John shared a special bond with his wife, Connie Hendrickson (Wagner) of 26 years. Together they not only built a home for Foster Children but also ran a successful Scentsy business. Their partnership extended beyond marriage into entrepreneurship and adventure. Through their business efforts, they earned numerous trips and had the opportunity to travel the world together — something John truly loved. Exploring new places brought him joy and enriched his life with unforgettable experiences. John loved spending time with his family. He cherished the time spent with Betty and Melissa, from Disney to bike rides to video games and playful banter.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Connie; his special daughter Melissa Fobister; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Lynn Hendrickson; father David Hendrickson; and special daughter Betty Fobister; and father-in-law Donald Wagner.
John’s legacy is one of service, love for family, and an enduring spirit of adventure. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire kindness in others. Until we meet again.
Funeral service will be November 17, 2025, with visitation at 10 a.m., funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Fort Frances Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
