The LaVerendrye Hospital Auxiliary is excited to invite you to our Pumpkins & Plaid luncheon. This is our first fundraiser towards our $100,000 pledge for the ‘Lights, Camera, Diagnosis’ campaign to purchase an MRI and x-ray equipment for our hospital. Marnie Cumming, President of LVGHA said, “Pledging $100,000 is a major commitment for the Auxiliary. Our members cannot do it alone. We do, however, have great confidence that the community will continue to support us generously.”
The fall-themed Pumpkins & Plaid event will take place on Sunday, October 26th at the Royal Canadian Legion. Doors open at 11:30 with lunch served at 12:30. It will be an opportunity for guests to socialise while having fun supporting the MRI campaign.
The committee has enjoyed planning a variety of ‘fun-draising’ activities. By popular demand, we are having a “Pick-a-Pumpkin” grab bag table with lots of surprises and a Cake Roulette with tasty cakes and cupcakes going to the winners. The Penny Table is always popular. Our members and the community have contributed wonderful items.
Triple Play will feature three terrific prizes. There will be an amazing Rack of Wine along with two other very generous donations. And who wouldn’t want to try their hand at Plinko? Every disc will be a winner along with special chances to win tickets for a grand prize!
A beautiful, handcrafted quilt has been donated by Wendy Angus. This queen-sized quilt in blue and white would be wonderful to win for yourself or for a gift. The $5.00 tickets are currently available from Auxiliary members and at the Gift Shop with the draw taking place at Pumpkins & Plaid.
Luncheon tickets are $30 each and can be purchased at several locations. They are available at the Hospital Gift Shop in the main lobby of LVGH on Monday through Friday from 12:00 noon to 3:30, at the Senior Centre and at the Library. Tickets can also be purchased by calling Janice Mundle at 807-271- 3665. Janice will also be pleased to reserve seating if you wish to purchase tickets for a group. The deadline for purchasing tickets is Monday, October 20.
The Auxiliary has a proud tradition of raising funds to purchase medical equipment for LaVerendrye Hospital. Since forming in 1952, LVGHA has donated about $1,700,000 or over $3,500,000 in today’s dollars. Throughout, LVGHA has always supported the major Riverside fundraising campaigns. Care Close to Home received $500,000 over several years followed by $60,000 for Just Imagine and most recently, $70,000 went towards Picture This. Our current $100,000 pledge continues this very worthwhile tradition. We look forward to welcoming you to Pumpkins & Plaid, our inaugural fundraiser for our 2025-2026 pledge.
