PERRY MICHAEL NASTIUK

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear brother, Perry Michael Nastiuk on September 18, 2025, at his residence in Fort Frances. Perry was born to Nastor and Norma Nastiuk (nee Jourdain) on December 8, 1956, in Fort Frances and was the first born of the five of us.

Mom and dad would tell stories that from birth Perry was always on the move, a going concern. To say he was adventurous, free spirited, fearless, imprudent, hot headed, noble, passionate and great hearted would be a gross understatement! This is what made him unique and loved by many.

As a young man Perry earned certificates in forestry and archeology and was a consummate lover of the Natural Sciences. He could spend a couple of hours exploring the environment (he knew where to look) and always returned with a collection of fossils and ancient artifacts. Recently Perry fulfilled his longing to tour Central America and examine the Mayan and Aztec cultures, particularly the ruins. Being his second trip, he began forming friendships there, Buenas Noches Amigos! Perry wouldn’t have achieved this momentous venture without his great friend/brother Brian Cousineau.

Perry was also an ardent self-learner in other areas including astrology, botany, horticulture and had a proficiency in gardening and growing herbs. His Ukrainian heritage was greatly dear to his heart. It was intrinsic to who he was with his early years spent with Bobba and Guida.

Recently Perry connected with extended relatives and was excited to be learning more about our Ukrainian family tree.

‘Na zdorovye’ Perry, we’ll see you later!

Left to treasure Perry’s memory are his siblings Marlo and Jamey Nastiuk, Nick Nastiuk (Tracy) and Melanie Jones; nieces and nephews Tiffany Zub, Jordan Nastiuk (Ally) and their kids Ayden and Olivia; Jasmine Nastiuk (Nathan) and kids Parker, Conner & Coralee, Seth Nastiuk, Jade and Tara Pescitelli, Steve Carlson (Raquel) and son Ethan Rose, Sommer Jones (Evan) and kids Asher Smith and Beckett Jones and Hunter Jones; cousins Larry and Sonja Arch, Connie Howard, Brian and Alec Arch and their families, Dave Zyha and family, Tom Franko and family, Chad  and Keith Nastiuk and family, Darrel Nastiuk and family, Jourdain families of Lac La Croix, and Perrault families, Perry’s lifelong friends/brother, Terry Kawulia (Shannon) Brian Cousineau, Ray Ash (Cathy), Joe Gladue (Heather) and many more, you know who you are.

Perry was predeceased by mom and dad Nastor and Norma Nastiuk; paternal grandparents Magdary and Mary Nastiuk (nee Zyha); maternal grandparents Ralph and Delia Mary Aubey (nee Perrault); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.

A graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery, Sunset Drive, Fort Frances on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. (BYO chairs) with luncheon to follow at the Fort Frances Legion.
