Ogimaawedamook

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Brenda Geyshick – “Ogimaawedamook” on September 16, 2025, in Fort Frances, Ont. Brenda was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Brenda was predeceased by her parents Marie & John Ottertail; her grandparents Roy and Ameila Burnside; and her big sister Linda; her big brother Kalvin; her uncle Larry Burnside; her nephews Tyrell and Eric Ottertail, Dan Morrison, Joe and  Dan Burnside, and niece Tammy Burnside; her special uncles Gene Goodsky, Walter, Alvin and Gilbert Caribou.

Leaving behind is the love of her life her husband Dan Geyshick Sr. and their three children Dan Jr., Janine and Jen (Charles); and her precious grandchildren Lucas, Adam, Kai, Conner, Lil Dan, Brennan and Danica and her dog Jackson (Teyha); her siblings Richard, Daryl, Carol (Carl) and Tracy (Brad); nieces and nephews Alana (Curt), Linda (Justin), Karissa (Freeman), Alan, Randy, Jordan, Dylan, Chasity, Cammie, Cory, Cylie, Kyson, Cherish, Eric, Shantay, Eden, Shane, Kiera, Chris, Kianna, Kevin and Kendall; Brenda’s sister and brothers in-law; her close friends and extended family too numerous to mention.

Brenda will always be remembered for her passion for music, fishing, family cookouts, and her love for volleyball.

Honorary pallbearers are family and friends.

A traditional wake was held at the Gakijiwanong Anishinabe Nation Gym on Friday, September 19, 2025, with service on Saturday, September 20, at 10:00 a.m.
