After a multi-week hiatus due to the Christmas holidays, the black-and-gold returned to NorWOSSA action yesterday in Dryden.
The senior boys’ basketball squad proved too much to handle for the host Eagles as Fort High cruised to a 59-30 victory.
Justin Anderson led the way with a game-high 20 points while Caleb McIntosh netted 19.
The junior boys were not so fortunate, however, as they were overwhelmed 40-21 by the Eagles (top scorers were not available by press time).
On the volleyball court yesterday, the Muskie junior girls fought tooth-and-nail en route to a gritty 3-2 victory in their best-of-five battle.
After taking the first two sets by identical 25-17 scores, Fort High saw Dryden roar back to take the next two 25-16 and 25-19.
But the black-and-gold prevailed in the tie-breaker, winning 15-12 to seal the match and improve to 2-1 on the season.
It was a different story for the senior squad, though, which remained winless after being swept 25-18, 25-18, and 25-19 by the first-place Eagles (3-0).
Both volleyball squads then hit the highway to Kenora earlier today for the Broncos’ annual home tournament, which wraps up tomorrow.
