The Northwest Catholic District School Board will review its audited financial statements for the 2005/06 school year tonight, with the board expecting to finish the year in a balanced position.
A representative from BDO Dunwoody will attend the meeting to answer any questions from trustees.
Also at tonight’s meeting, which gets underway at 7 p.m. at the board office next to St. Francis School, the board will vote on whether to approve its 2007 committee memberships.
Trustees are appointed to serve on board committees on an annual basis. All appointments are made by the chair.
Included among these are the Special Education Advisory Committee and the Native Advisory Committee.
As well, trustees are slated to discuss plans to meet the province’s primary class size requirements at St. Joseph’s School in Dryden and Sacred Heart School in Sioux Lookout.
The Ministry of Education has approved two new classrooms at St. Joseph’s and one new classroom at Sacred Heart.
The board has decided there’s sufficient classroom space at St. Michael’s School in Fort Frances and Our Lady of the Way in Stratton.
Trustees also will receive a number of informational reports tonight, including:
•a literacy/numeracy action plan for 2007/08;
•an update on the board’s character education plan;
•an update on the board’s current special education programming; and,
•a report on Advent, 2006 activities in the schools.
