The LaVallee Seniors Committee organized another well attended and thoroughly enjoyed event.

On Friday, July 25, 24 seniors from the district had a tour of New Gold Mine. New Gold provided bottled water and snacks for everyone, which was much appreciated on a hot day. A guide provided commentary and answered questions along the way. The size of everything from site, layout, buildings, equipment and especially the open mine was overwhelming.

Lois Caul shared with me that she really enjoyed the tour

“I’m glad I went and the size was something to see,” Caul said.

The Seniors Committee would like to thank New Gold for the opportunity to see the mine in person.

A reminder that the Seniors Committee is planning a family fun day on Sunday, September 7, at the Devlin ball park. Hamburgers, hot dogs and a variety of other food will be served. This event is for family and friends of all ages. More information to follow.

The regular coffee gatherings for seniors will start in September.

The Rainy River District Fall Fair is just around the corner, taking place August 14-16 this year. The fair celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. The fair board members are planning many ways to celebrate this years 125th. Be sure to check out next weeks Fair Edition in the Wednesday’s paper.

Congratulations to Nick Kaun and Chelsey Craig, the couple were wed on Saturday, July 26, at a beautiful outside wedding. The district sends you both many years of happiness!

Sincere sympathy to Lois Shine and her family on the passing of Lois’s sister, Donna Rogers. Our community is holding you in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.

Robin’s 2 cents:

A hacker called me and said he had all my passwords.

I got a pen and paper and said, “Thank God for that, what are they?”
